The town is located on a peninsula across the Hillsborough River from the island province's capital, Charlottetown, on the eastern side of Canada. Prince Edward Island is probably best known as the setting of the classic novel Anne of Green Gables. The town has a beautiful beach and celebrates its adopted heritage of Shakespeare since renaming itself Stratford in 1913, having previously been called Bunbury.

​Residents of the Stratford-upon-Avon area are welcome to join with Stratfordians from around the world. Attendees are responsible for organising their own travel to and from Stratford PEI and there will be a registration fee to cover some of the cost of the hospitality there. Accommodation is free as it is provided on a homestay basis although you can make your own arrangements if you prefer.
